I traveled to New York City to learn the techniques to build this room box. It was a full two days of class which sent you home with a box mostly finished (walls and floor) on the inside only. The paneled wall consists of many pieces of wood hand cut and fit, then sanded and stained to create the effect. It would still need furnishings and the exterior finishes. The exterior walls are stones I laid. When my friend Karen saw this, she insisted we “moss” the castle walls to get the full effect of being in the Queen’s castle. To my luck, I was the only student for Sue and Eamon O’Rourke who traveled all the way from London for the workshop and the New York show. Sue and Eamon specialize in period work, be it Medieval, Tudor, etc. I feel blessed to have been taught by such impeccable artists.
